Sample tiles on a worktop don’t tell a customer how their driveway will look

Block paving, resin, porcelain, Indian stone, granite setts, contrasting borders, herringbone vs stretcher bond — the choices are visual, but the samples are tiny. A 100mm tile sample looks completely different to 60sqm of the same product across the front of a house.

Customers either pick the safest option (cheaper, lower-margin) or stall while they keep researching. A mock-up on their own property turns the question from “what do you think” to “is this what we want?”

An AI mock-up uses the customer’s own property photo with the proposed paving in place. It doesn’t replace a measured survey or a drainage calc, but it lets the customer see resin vs block vs porcelain on their actual house before agreeing the spec.

Three example driveway and patio mock-ups built from a property photo

Each visual is generated from one customer photo. The paving quote sits inside the same PDF, so the surface choice, scope and price are reviewed together.

Note on the visuals: these are illustrative AI sales mock-ups, not measured surveys, drainage drawings or ground-condition reports. Always confirm levels, falls, drainage, base depth and SuDS-compliant runoff before pricing. The mock-up helps the customer choose — the survey makes sure the work is buildable.

Example 1 — loose gravel to resin-bound driveway

BEFORE 1 Loose gravel driveway before resurfacing, used as a before image in an AI mock-up
AFTER 1 Illustrative AI mock-up of the same property with a resin-bound driveway and block-paved edging

Show a loose gravel driveway upgraded into a resin-bound driveway with clean block-paved edging. Useful when the customer is sick of stones in the lawn but unsure how resin will look.

Example 2 — old tarmac to block paving with border

BEFORE 2 Old tarmac driveway before replacement, used as a before image in an AI mock-up
AFTER 2 Illustrative AI mock-up of the same property with a block-paved driveway and contrasting border

Help customers compare old tarmac with a smart block-paved driveway and a defined contrasting border. Strong when the customer wants the kerb-appeal lift but isn’t sure block is “them.”

Example 3 — concrete slab to porcelain-tiled driveway

BEFORE 3 Concrete slab driveway before replacement, used as a before image in an AI mock-up
AFTER 3 Illustrative AI mock-up of the same property with a premium porcelain-tiled driveway

Use visual quotes to show how concrete or tired surfaces could become a cleaner premium porcelain finish. Useful for upselling the £ per sqm difference between standard and premium spec.

Why visual quotes help driveway and patio installers shorten the second-quote loop

Hard landscaping is one of the slowest decisions a homeowner makes. They’ll get three quotes, watch a few YouTube videos, drive past a dozen examples and still be unsure six weeks later. Most of that time is spent imagining what their drive will look like — not comparing prices.

A visual quote takes the imagination out of it. The customer sees resin on their drive, block paving on their drive, porcelain on their drive — and picks. That’s the conversation that wins jobs, not another spec sheet.

It also makes upgrades visible. A contrasting border, a corner detail, a feature step — small extras the customer would otherwise skim past in a written quote.

How TailoredQuote works for a driveway or patio company

Add the paving details

Type or speak rough notes — existing surface, sqm, base depth, edging, surface type, pattern, drainage, kerb work.

Upload the customer’s property photo

A wider angle showing the full driveway or patio area. Daylight photo = cleaner mock-up.

Generate the surface mock-up

The AI produces a visual showing the proposed surface in place. Up to 3 amendments to compare colour, pattern or border options.

Send the quote for approval

Branded PDF with the visual built in, plus an online accept-and-sign button. Clearer record of what was agreed before ordering materials.

Online quote acceptance

Once they can see the new drive, make it easy for them to say yes

The visual sells the kerb appeal. The acceptance step closes it. TailoredQuote keeps the quote, the surface mock-up and the customer’s approval together in one record — far clearer than a verbal yes or an unsigned email reply.

Designed to support standard UK trade quote acceptance under the Electronic Communications Act 2000. Not intended for deeds, wills, land transfers or other documents requiring witnessed or notarised execution.

What’s built in for driveway and patio quotes

Six things that matter for a typical paving quote, included as standard.

Show paving, resin and patio finishes

Resin-bound, block paving, porcelain, Indian stone, granite setts — visualised on the customer’s actual house, not a stock photo.

Visualise edging, borders, patterns

Contrasting block borders, herringbone vs stretcher bond, feature corners — the small details that make a quote feel designed, not estimated.

Compare colours on the actual property

Run two or three colour or surface variations on the same photo — charcoal vs buff, light vs warm — on their actual driveway.

Surface notes inside the quote PDF

Excavation depth, sub-base spec, edging, kerbing, drainage and reinstatement — all professionally worded and editable line by line.

Online approval before order

Online accept-and-sign gives a clearer record of what surface, pattern, sqm and price were agreed before materials are delivered.

Easier to upsell premium spec

When the customer can see standard porcelain alongside premium porcelain, the upgrade becomes a real choice, not a price comparison.

The maths is straightforward

If a visual quote helps you win one extra driveway, patio or paving job, TailoredQuote can quickly justify itself.

A typical full driveway is well into four figures, often five. The software is a small fixed monthly cost.

Plans from £35/month with a 14-day free trial. No card needed to start. See pricing.

Common exclusions to put on every driveway or patio quote

Hard landscaping surfaces unexpected work the moment the digger goes in — clay, services, drainage falls, the neighbour’s sycamore. Listing these on every quote prevents the awkward conversation when the surprise appears.

Edit this list to fit your typical jobs. The point is to set expectations early, not to copy ours word-for-word.

Frequently asked questions

Can I show different paving colours on the same property?
Yes. From one customer photo you can generate the initial mock-up plus up to three amendments. That’s usually enough to compare a charcoal block, a buff block and a resin option without having to start over.
Can I include edging, border and pattern ideas?
Yes. The brief you give the AI can include “contrasting buff border, herringbone main field, granite kerb to lawn edge.” The closer the brief, the better the mock-up. Use it to surface the optional extras that get skimmed past in a written quote.
Does this replace a measured survey?
No. A measured survey checks levels, falls, drainage, base depth and any planning or SuDS requirements — none of which a photo-based mock-up can see. Treat the visual as a sales aid for the spec conversation, and survey the property before final pricing.
Can I use it for patios as well as driveways?
Yes. The mock-up doesn’t care whether the surface is at the front, the back or a side path. Brief the AI with the area and the proposed surface, and the visual handles both. Same goes for shared driveways or paths.
Can customers sign before I order materials?
Yes. The branded quote PDF and the surface mock-up are in the same record, with an accept-and-sign button on the review page. You get an emailed PDF showing what was accepted, when and by whom — clearer than a verbal yes before you order block stock. Available on every plan.
Will I still control the price, or does the AI guess that?
You set every price. The AI drafts the scope wording (excavation, sub-base, edging, surface, drainage, reinstatement) but you review and edit every line and price before the quote goes out. There are no hidden margins or surprise pricing rules.
