TailoredQuote Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026 · Version 3.0
This Cookie Policy explains how TailoredQuote LTD (“TailoredQuote”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on tailoredquote.co.uk and, where relevant, within the TailoredQuote Service.
This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, you can contact us:
- by email at [email protected]; or
- through the Contact page made available through the TailoredQuote website or logged-in Service.
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on a device when a website or online service is used.
They can be used for a range of purposes, including:
- keeping a user logged in;
- remembering settings or preferences;
- maintaining security;
- helping a website function correctly;
- understanding how a site or service is used;
- measuring performance;
- supporting analytics and service improvement.
Similar technologies can include, depending on implementation:
- local storage;
- session storage;
- scripts or tags;
- tracking pixels;
- device or browser identifiers;
- other technologies used to store information on or access information from a user’s device.
For convenience, this Policy refers to all of these collectively as cookies and similar technologies unless the context requires otherwise.
2. How TailoredQuote Manages Cookie Consent
The TailoredQuote website uses a consent banner that gives you control over which categories of cookies and similar technologies are used. The banner presents four categories:
- Necessary — always active; required for the website and Service to function;
- Analytics — self-hosted analytics and Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (see sections 7.4 and 7.5);
- Advertising — Google Ads conversion tracking to measure advertising effectiveness (see section 7.6);
- Functional — preference-saving and usability enhancements.
When you first visit the site, non-essential categories default to off. You can accept all, reject all non-essential, or choose individual categories through the “Manage Preferences” option. You can change your choices at any time by visiting your cookie preferences page or by using the link in the site footer or cookie banner.
Your consent choices are stored locally on your device using the key tq_consent_v3 in your browser’s localStorage. No consent data is sent to our servers.
3. Why We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
3.1 Strictly necessary / essential purposes
These are used to:
- make the website and Service function properly;
- maintain session state;
- support login and authentication;
- keep forms working correctly;
- help prevent fraud or abusive use;
- maintain security and integrity;
- remember cookie preferences;
- support load balancing or core infrastructure operation.
These technologies are important for the operation and security of TailoredQuote.
3.2 Functional purposes
Where implemented, these may be used to:
- remember user preferences;
- improve usability;
- retain non-essential settings chosen by the user.
Whether these require consent depends on what they do and whether they are strictly necessary.
3.3 Performance or analytics purposes
TailoredQuote uses self-hosted analytics (described in section 7.4) and Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager (described in section 7.5) to:
- understand how visitors use the website;
- identify errors and friction points;
- measure feature usage;
- improve content, journeys, and performance.
These analytics tools are only activated after you give consent via the “Analytics” category in the cookie banner. No analytics data is collected if you have not consented or have selected “Reject All”.
3.4 Marketing or advertising purposes
TailoredQuote uses Google Ads conversion tracking (described in section 7.6) to measure the effectiveness of advertising and understand which marketing activities lead to sign-ups and subscriptions. This tool is only activated for users who have consented to the “Advertising” category via the cookie banner.
TailoredQuote does not currently use social media pixels (such as Meta or TikTok) or general retargeting networks. Any future addition of such tools will be described in this Policy before or when they are activated.
4. Types of Cookies
Cookies can be described in different ways.
4.1 Session cookies
These are temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser or end your session.
4.2 Persistent cookies
These remain on your device for a set period or until deleted.
4.3 First-party cookies
These are set by TailoredQuote’s own domain.
4.4 Third-party cookies
These are set by a third party or through a third-party service used on our website or Service.
5. Legal Basis and Consent Approach
Under UK privacy and cookie rules, not all cookies can be used in the same way.
TailoredQuote’s approach is intended to be:
- strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies may be used where necessary for the operation, security, or essential functionality of the website or Service;
- non-essential cookies and similar technologies should not be used unless and until any required consent has been obtained.
Where cookies involve personal data, data protection law also applies. In that case, TailoredQuote will identify an appropriate lawful basis for the related personal data processing.
In practice, this means:
- essential cookies may be used because they are necessary to provide the service requested, maintain security, or make the site work properly;
- non-essential analytics, advertising, tracking, or similar technologies should only be used with consent where required.
6. Cookie Banner / Preference Controls
TailoredQuote uses a consent banner that appears on your first visit and whenever your stored preferences cannot be found. The banner provides the following controls:
- Accept All — enables all four categories (Necessary, Analytics, Advertising, Functional);
- Reject All — accepts only Necessary cookies; all non-essential categories remain off;
- Manage Preferences — opens a panel letting you toggle each non-essential category individually before saving your choices.
You can revisit your preferences at any time by clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer or by clicking the consent banner if it reappears. Your choices are stored in your browser’s localStorage and persist across sessions on the same device and browser.
7. What Cookies or Similar Technologies TailoredQuote May Use
The exact cookies used can vary over time depending on the live implementation.
The categories TailoredQuote may use include:
7.1 Essential website and service cookies
Examples of purpose:
- authentication and session handling;
- keeping a user logged in;
- protecting forms and login routes;
- remembering cookie choices;
- supporting website delivery and core service operation.
7.2 Security and fraud-prevention technologies
Examples of purpose:
- detecting suspicious behaviour;
- preventing abusive automated use;
- protecting account and login flows;
- preserving platform integrity.
7.3 Infrastructure-related technologies
Examples of purpose:
- load balancing;
- caching;
- website stability;
- environment or deployment support.
7.4 Self-hosted analytics
TailoredQuote uses self-hosted analytics to understand how the website is used and to improve the service. This system:
- records page visits, session information, referrer source, and engagement metrics (such as scroll depth and time on page);
- stores data in TailoredQuote’s own Supabase database;
- uses a session identifier stored in a first-party cookie (
__trk) and in sessionStorage to associate page views within a single visit; - may collect approximate geographic location derived from IP address (country, region, city), connection type, and browser/device information for aggregate reporting;
- is only activated after you give consent via the “Analytics” category in the cookie banner.
If you select “Reject All” or leave the Analytics category off, no self-hosted analytics data is collected and the __trk session cookie is not set.
7.5 Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (Analytics category)
TailoredQuote uses Google Tag Manager (“GTM”) to deploy and manage measurement tags, and Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to understand website usage and audience behaviour. These tools:
- collect information about how visitors interact with the website, such as pages visited, time on site, and events (for example, clicking a sign-up button or completing a form);
- use first-party cookies and browser storage to identify returning visitors within a session or across sessions, including cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*; - may send data to Google servers, including servers located in the United States and other countries outside the UK. Google provides Standard Contractual Clauses and other appropriate transfer safeguards;
- are governed by Google’s own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy;
- are only loaded after you give consent via the “Analytics” category in the cookie banner. If you do not consent, GTM and GA4 do not load and no data is sent to Google for analytics purposes.
TailoredQuote operates Google Consent Mode v2, which means Google’s tags start in a restricted state (all consent signals set to “denied”) and only update once you make a choice via the cookie banner.
7.6 Google Ads conversion tracking (Advertising category)
TailoredQuote uses Google Ads conversion tracking to measure whether users who clicked on a TailoredQuote advertisement subsequently completed a relevant action (such as signing up for a free trial or subscribing). This system:
- uses the Google Ads tag (Account ID: AW-18138601331), delivered via Google Tag Manager;
- may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device when you interact with a TailoredQuote advertisement and subsequently visit the website;
- records conversion events (for example, a completed sign-up or subscription) and attributes them to a Google Ads campaign to help TailoredQuote assess advertising effectiveness;
- may share hashed user data (such as a hashed email address) with Google for Enhanced Conversions measurement, where you have consented to the Advertising category;
- sends data to Google servers, which may be located outside the UK. Transfers are supported by Standard Contractual Clauses and other appropriate safeguards;
- is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Ads conversion tracking is only activated when you have consented to the “Advertising” category via the cookie banner. Under Google Consent Mode v2, the Google Ads tag starts in a restricted state and only sends conversion data once advertising consent is granted.
8. Third-Party Services
TailoredQuote uses third-party service providers to support hosting, delivery, storage, security, AI processing, email infrastructure, payments, analytics, and other service functions. Key providers include:
- Google (Tag Manager, Analytics 4, Ads) — analytics and advertising measurement, described in sections 7.5 and 7.6. Data may be transferred to servers in the United States and other countries; transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Stripe — payment processing. TailoredQuote does not store or process card data directly; Stripe handles all payment card information under PCI DSS compliance. Privacy policy: stripe.com/gb/privacy.
- Supabase — database and file storage hosting. Data is stored in the EU region. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy.
- Vercel — website hosting and serverless function execution. Privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Cloudflare — content delivery network (CDN) and security. Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Apple / iCloud — transactional email delivery via iCloud SMTP infrastructure. Privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Where any third-party technology involves non-essential storage or access on a user’s device, it is only activated in accordance with the consent categories described in this Policy.
9. How to Control Cookies
You can usually control cookies in several ways, including by:
- using any cookie preference controls made available by TailoredQuote;
- changing browser settings to block or delete cookies;
- clearing stored site data from your browser or device;
- using device or browser privacy controls where available.
Please note:
- blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the website or Service from working properly;
- login, quote creation, dashboard functionality, and account features may be affected if essential technologies are blocked.
10. Do Not Track and Similar Signals
Because website and browser privacy controls vary, TailoredQuote does not guarantee that it will respond to every browser-based signal or preference in a uniform way unless and until the live implementation explicitly supports that functionality.
11. Retention of Cookie Data
Retention periods depend on the cookie or technology involved.
Examples:
- session cookies may expire when the browser is closed;
- persistent cookies may remain for a set period until expiry or deletion;
- preference cookies may remain long enough to remember your choices;
- security-related identifiers may persist for appropriate operational periods.
TailoredQuote aims not to retain cookie-related information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is used.
12. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time.
If TailoredQuote changes the way it uses cookies or similar technologies, or introduces non-essential analytics, tracking, advertising, or similar tools, this Cookie Policy and any related consent notices or controls should be updated accordingly.
13. Contact
If you have questions about this Cookie Policy or our use of cookies and similar technologies, you can contact TailoredQuote:

For consistency with the wider TailoredQuote support routes:
