Customers love the idea of a media wall — until they have to imagine the proportions
They’ve seen them on Instagram. They want one. But on their actual chimney breast, in their actual lounge, with their actual TV, sofa and ceiling height — how big should the fire be? Where does the TV go? Should the slats run vertical or horizontal? Will it dominate the room?
Without a visual, this is the conversation that drags out for weeks. Customers go quiet, look at more Instagram posts, ask their partner, then come back asking the same questions a different way.
An AI mock-up uses the customer’s own lounge photo with the proposed fireplace or media wall in place. It doesn’t replace your design drawings or a HETAS-certified spec, but it lets the customer see proportions, finish and layout before they sign anything.
Three example feature wall mock-ups built from the customer’s lounge photo
Each visual is generated from one before photo. The build-out quote sits inside the same PDF, so layout, scope and price are reviewed together.
Note on the visuals: these are illustrative AI sales mock-ups, not construction drawings, HETAS specifications or fire safety calculations. Always confirm flue routes, fire model clearances, fixings, structural opening-up and any Building Regulations or Gas Safe requirements before order.
Example 1 — traditional fireplace to slatted media wall
BEFORE 1AFTER 1
Show a traditional fireplace transformed into a modern linear electric fire and slat feature wall. Useful when the customer can’t commit because they can’t picture how dramatic the change will be.
Example 2 — basic gas fire to inset fire with built-in shelving
BEFORE 2AFTER 2
Help customers picture built-in shelving, inset fire placement and a more finished lounge feature. Strong when the customer wants something built-in but isn’t sure they want the full media wall look.
Example 3 — brick fireplace to bioethanol media wall
BEFORE 3AFTER 3
Use visuals to compare traditional fireplace areas with a premium bioethanol fire and full media wall concept. Useful for high-spec customers comparing “tidy up the existing” against a feature wall.

Why visual quotes help fireplace and media wall installers convert the design conversation
Media wall jobs are sold on aspiration and closed on confidence. The aspiration is easy — the customer has already seen photos. The confidence is the hard part: where the TV sits, what fire fits the space, whether the slats compete with their existing decor.
A visual quote replaces the “here’s what we could do” conversation with “here’s what it would look like.” That shifts the next question from “maybe” to “can you also show me without the lighting?” — which is exactly the conversation that closes the job.
And once the layout is agreed, the online accept-and-sign step keeps the design choice and the price in the same record before any joinery is ordered.
How TailoredQuote works for a fireplace or media wall company
Add the build details
Type or speak rough notes — existing feature, fire model, TV size, shelving, slat finish, lighting, electrics.
Upload the customer’s lounge photo
A standard mobile photo showing the chimney breast or feature wall straight-on. Wider angle = cleaner mock-up.
Generate the feature mock-up
The AI produces a visual showing the proposed feature in place. Up to 3 amendments to refine fire size, TV position or finish.
Send the quote for approval
Branded PDF with the visual built in, plus an online accept-and-sign button. Clearer record of what was agreed before joinery is ordered.
Online quote acceptance
Once they can see the feature wall, make it easy for them to say yes
The visual sells the room. The acceptance step closes it. TailoredQuote keeps the quote, the feature mock-up and the customer’s approval together in one record — clearer than verbal confirmations or text-message thumbs-ups.
Designed to support standard UK trade quote acceptance under the Electronic Communications Act 2000. Not intended for deeds, wills, land transfers or other documents requiring witnessed or notarised execution.

What’s built in for fireplace and media wall work
Six things that matter for a typical feature wall quote, included as standard.
📷
Show TV, fire and shelving positions
The customer sees where the TV sits in relation to the fire, where the shelves break, and how the proportions feel against their ceiling height.
💡
Visualise lighting and finishes
Backlit slats, ambient strips, recessed downlights — small details that turn a budget media wall into a premium one. Easier to upsell when visible.
📊
Compare simple and premium layouts
Run two or three variations on the same lounge — basic inset fire, mid-range slat wall, full premium media wall — so the customer picks the spec.
📄
Visuals built into the quote PDF
The mock-up sits inside your branded quote, not in a separate email attachment they have to dig out.
✅
Customer approval before build
Online accept-and-sign gives a clearer record of what fire, layout, finish and price were agreed before slat profiles or fire kits are ordered.

Cleaner expectation-setting
The AI drafts professional wording for build-out, electrics, gas, finish, fire fitting and second-fix — you control every line and price.
The maths is straightforward
If one visual concept helps a customer commit to a higher-value fireplace or media wall job — or wins one extra quote a month — TailoredQuote pays for itself many times over.
Media wall jobs typically run from a few thousand to well over £10k. The software is a small fixed monthly cost.
Plans from £35/month with a 14-day free trial. No card needed to start. See pricing.
Common exclusions to put on every fireplace or media wall quote
Feature walls cross multiple trades — joinery, electrics, plastering, sometimes gas. Listing these on every quote stops the awkward conversation when the project crosses a boundary.
Asbestos discovery in chimney breast or original fireplace materials
Structural opening-up of the chimney breast or new RSJ installation
Building Regulations notification for fire or chimney alterations
HETAS-certified work for solid-fuel installs (separate registered installer)
Removal or capping of existing flue, gas line or chimney
Gas Safe registered work (priced as a separate trade)
Electrical wiring for fire, TV power, lighting (Part P notification)
New consumer unit, RCBO upgrades or distribution
Aerial, satellite or HDMI cabling beyond standard runs
Plastering or decoration outside the immediate feature wall
Carpet or flooring make-good in front of the fireplace
Premium tile, stone or feature finishes (priced from chosen sample)
Bespoke joinery for shelves or cabinets (priced from chosen design)
Fire model or media wall kit (priced from chosen supplier and spec)
Soundbar, speaker or AV integration
Out-of-area travel, restricted parking or limited access surcharges
Edit this list to fit your typical jobs. The point is to set expectations early, not to copy ours word-for-word.
Frequently asked questions
Can I show different media wall layouts on the same lounge photo?
Yes. From one customer photo you can generate the initial layout plus up to three amendments. Useful when the customer wants to compare a budget inset-fire option against a full slatted media wall on the same chimney breast.
Can I include TV, fire and shelving positions?
Yes. The brief you give the AI can include “65-inch TV centred above linear electric fire, shelving to either side, vertical slat finish.” The closer the brief, the better the mock-up. Use it to nail proportions before joinery is cut.
Are the visuals exact construction drawings?
No — treat them as illustrative AI sales mock-ups. Construction drawings, HETAS specs, fire clearances, gas line schematics, structural opening-up calcs — all of those still need the trade or a structural engineer to produce. The mock-up is the bridge between “I want a media wall” and “here’s a quote we can work with.”
Can I show premium upgrade options?
Yes. Generate variations on the same photo — e.g. basic finish vs premium with backlit slats and feature lighting. The customer compares both and picks the spec, often choosing the upgrade once they can see the difference.
Can customers approve the chosen layout online?
Yes. The branded quote PDF and the layout mock-up are in the same record, with an accept-and-sign button on the review page. You get an emailed PDF showing what was accepted, when and by whom — available on every plan.
Will I still control the price, or does the AI guess that?
You set every price. The AI drafts the scope wording (build-out, electrics, gas, finish, fire fitting, second-fix) but you review and edit every line and price before the quote goes out. There are no hidden margins or surprise pricing rules.
