How to use the free text quote demo
Step-by-step walkthrough of TailoredQuote's free text-only quote demo. Branded PDF with a costed scope of works in 30 seconds. No photo, no signup, no credit card.

Open the demo and follow the on-screen prompts. We'll explain each step below if you'd rather see what to expect first.
What you'll get
- A branded PDF quote with your business name as the letterhead
- A scope of works with 5–7 priced line items
- The total cost, with each line item priced as a percentage of total
- Up to 3 free amendments to refine the scope
This is the right demo if you don't have a room photo — for example, you're quoting for a labour-only job (replastering, painting, electrical work) or you want to send a quote before visiting the site.
What you'll need
- Your business name (used as the letterhead)
- A short description of the job
- The total cost you want to charge (£100–£500,000)
- An email address (we'll send your result there)
Step 1 — Open the demo
Visit tailoredquote.co.uk/10/index12.html on any device.
Step 2 — Choose 'Text quote'
Tap the right launcher card labelled Text quote. This skips the photo upload entirely — you'll go straight to the business name step.
Step 3 — Enter your business name
Type your trading name. This appears at the top of the PDF as the letterhead. The other letterhead lines (address, phone, website) render as faint placeholders — to get your real details on the PDF, sign up for a free trial after the demo.
Step 4 — Describe the job
Type a short renovation brief. The AI uses this as the scope description and as the basis for the line items.
Examples that work well:
- Strip out existing kitchen, fit new shaker units, granite worktops, integrated appliances, splashback tiling and downlights.
- Replaster lounge and hallway ceilings, fit new skirting and architraves, prepare and decorate throughout in customer-supplied paint.
- Re-roof rear extension with concrete tiles, replace fascias and soffits in white UPVC, fit new gutters and downpipes.
Step 5 — Enter the total cost
Type the total job cost in pounds (£100 minimum, £500,000 maximum). The AI splits this across the line items intelligently — fixtures and supply costs typically take 35–55%, labour the rest.
Step 6 — Enter your email
We send your result to your email. The email also contains the PDF link if you want to share or print the result.
One demo per email — for unlimited quotes, sign up for a free trial after the demo.
Step 7 — Wait ~30 seconds
The loading orb shows progress as the AI reads your brief, drafts the scope, prices the line items and builds the PDF.
Step 8 — Open and download your quote
The success screen has a "View your quote online" button. Tapping it opens the preview page with the full quote document and a Download PDF link.
The preview page contains:
- Your business name as the letterhead
- The customer details (placeholder for the demo)
- The scope of works with 5–7 priced line items
- The total cost, in a brand-blue highlighted row
- A customer acceptance signature box (placeholder for the demo — real e-sig is in the paid product)
- A Download PDF button
Step 9 — Request up to 3 amendments
If the line items aren't quite right, tap "Request an amendment" and type your update. You can also change the total cost during an amendment if needed.
Good amendment examples:
- Add a separate line for tile supply.
- Split the labour across "first fix" and "second fix".
- Change "decoration" to "two-coat eggshell on woodwork, two-coat emulsion on walls".
- Increase the total to £18,500 and add a line for skip hire.
Tips for great results
Brief wording
- Lead with the strip-out, then the new fit, then the finishing
- Mention materials and finishes explicitly (oak, porcelain, eggshell, satin)
- Include any supply you're providing vs customer-supplied items
- Comma-separated phrases work fine
Total cost
- Type your actual quoted price — the AI doesn't generate prices, it just splits the total
- The split favours supply for fixture-heavy jobs (kitchens, bathrooms, flooring)
- For pure labour jobs (decorating, plastering), the split favours labour
Letterhead
- The demo PDF has placeholder address/phone lines — sign up for the paid product to get your real letterhead, logo, and contact details
- The brand-blue highlighting (header rule, total row, CTA banner) matches across both demo and paid PDFs

No. The text demo is photo-free. You just need a business name, a short brief, and the total cost. (If you have a photo, try the visual mockup demo instead.)

No — the demo uses placeholder customer details ("Mr & Mrs Sample Customer / 1 Example Street, London"). The paid product collects real customer details and saves them.
Yes — your email contains a link to the preview page which has a Download PDF button.
It reads your brief and drafts 5–7 line items covering removal, supply, labour and finishing. It always includes a supply line for major fixtures so customers see what they're paying for.
The AI doesn't generate prices — it splits the total YOU enter across the line items. So whatever your total is, the line items reflect that. The split percentages are based on typical UK breakdowns.
