TailoredQuote uses GPT-4o to generate fully scoped, professionally worded construction quotes from a simple job description. This guide walks you through the entire process step by step — from logging in to downloading a branded PDF ready to send to your client.
You do not need any technical knowledge. If you can type a text message, you can create an AI quote.
Before You Start
You will need:
- A TailoredQuote account — create one free here if you have not already
- A basic description of the works you want to quote for
- Your customer's name (optional but recommended)
Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Sign in to your account
Go to tailoredquote.co.uk/login and enter your username and password. If you are a new user, click Create an Account and complete the short registration form. Your first month is completely free.

Click "New Quote" in the navigation
Once signed in, you will see the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Click New Quote to open the quote builder. On mobile, tap the menu icon first, then select New Quote.

Enter the customer name
Type the customer's name in the customer field at the top. If you have previously saved this customer, they will appear in a dropdown for quick selection. For your first quote, simply type the name directly.

Describe the works in plain English
In the task list field, type a description of the works you want to quote. You do not need to be technical — plain English works perfectly. For example:
"Rear single-storey extension 4m x 6m, 3 aluminium bifold doors, full kitchen refit, electrical first and second fix, underfloor heating throughout."
The more detail you provide, the more specific the AI output will be. But even a brief list will produce a professional result.

Tip: For higher-value quotes (over £10,000), the AI automatically produces more detailed scope breakdowns with additional line items. Do not hold back on describing the full project.

Click "Generate Quote"
Click the Generate Quote button. The AI will process your description and generate fully scoped, priced line items. This typically takes 30 to 60 seconds. You will see each item appear as it is generated.

Review and edit the output
The AI generates a suggested scope and price for each item. Always review every line item. You can:
- Edit any description or detail text
- Change any price to match your actual rates
- Add new line items manually
- Delete items that are not relevant

Download the PDF or save the quote
When you are happy with the quote, you have two options:
- Download PDF — generates a branded PDF with your logo and letterhead (if uploaded). Ready to email or share.
- Save — stores the quote in your Saved Quotes portal so you can return to it, edit it, or download it later.
Tips for Better AI Quotes
- Be specific about dimensions — "4m x 6m extension" produces better results than "extension."
- Mention materials — "aluminium bifold doors" is more useful than just "doors."
- Include all trades — list electrical, plumbing, plastering, and decoration separately if they are part of the project.
- Always review prices — the AI suggests estimates but your local rates may differ. Adjust to match your actual costs.
