Why data export matters
The data you create on TailoredQuote belongs to you. Quotes you've drafted, customers you've added, mockups you've generated, signed agreements you've collected — all of it. If you ever want to leave TailoredQuote, hand the data to your accountant, or just keep an offline backup, you should be able to export it without asking.
Some quoting tools require you to email support to request a data export, and the file you get back is partial or in a format you can't actually use. We built a one-click export that returns everything in a clearly-structured ZIP file.
What's in the export
The ZIP contains the following at the top level:
- account.json — your account details: business name, contact info, plan, signup date, last login
- letterhead.pdf or .png — the active letterhead image
- quote-template.json — your AI quote template settings (tone, language, brand context)
- quotes/quotes.json — every quote you've ever created with metadata, scope, line items, totals
- customers.json — every customer record with names, addresses, contact details, quote history
- mockups/mockups.json — mockup metadata (date, customer, brief)
- mockups/mockup-N-original.png — the original photos you uploaded
- mockups/mockup-N-mockup.png — the AI-generated renders
- signed-agreements/agreements.json — signed agreement metadata
- signed-agreements/*.pdf — every signed PDF, full quality
- acceptance-tokens.json — e-signature token records
- account-history.json — every meaningful action on your account (logins, plan changes, password updates)
How to download
- Sign in and visit your Account page
- Scroll to "Download your data"
- Click the green Download button
- Wait 30–60 seconds while we package the ZIP (longer if you have hundreds of quotes/mockups)
- The ZIP downloads to your device automatically
14-day cooldown
Once you download, the next export is unlocked 14 days later. This protects against accidental repeat downloads, runaway scripts, and abuse. The countdown shows on your Account page so you always know when the next export is available.
If you have a genuine reason to need more frequent exports (audit, legal request, accountant deadline), email [email protected] and we'll unlock the cooldown.
Privacy and security
The export is generated server-side using your authenticated session. The download URL is scoped to your account and expires shortly after the download completes — others can't reuse it.
The ZIP file itself is not encrypted (it's plain ZIP). Once it lands on your device, it's your responsibility to keep it secure. We recommend storing it in an encrypted folder or password manager if it contains customer PII.
GDPR context
Article 20 of UK GDPR (and EU GDPR) gives you the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly-used, machine-readable format and the right to transmit that data to another controller. The TailoredQuote data export is our implementation of that right.
If you want to permanently delete your account, contact us and we'll process the deletion. Note that signed agreements may be retained for the legally-required minimum (6 years under UK Limitation Act 1980) before deletion.
