Every edit, every revision — fully traceable
Edit a quote or mockup, send it, edit it again. Every change creates a version. View any past version, see exactly what was different, revert in one click. Nothing you've ever typed gets lost — including changes you reverted by accident.
Why version history matters
You quote a job. The customer asks for a small change. You update the quote and send the new version. A week later they pull out the original — "I thought we agreed £8,500 not £9,200" — and you can't remember what you sent first.
Without version history, that's a problem. With version history, you click Show History, see exactly what was on the original version, when you changed it, and what changed. The conversation moves on.
What gets versioned
Quotes
- Customer name
- Customer address
- Property address reference
- Total price
- Scope of works description
Mockups
- Renovation brief (the AI prompt)
Images and PDFs themselves are never duplicated — they sit on the canonical record and every version shares them. This keeps storage efficient even when a quote has 50 edits.
How to view version history
- Open the quote or mockup from your Saved Quotes / Saved Mockups page
- Click the Version History button next to Save
- A right-side panel slides in showing every version newest-first with timestamps and edit summaries
- Click any version to see the full snapshot, with a "Now: ..." marker on every field that differs from current
- Use the Revert button on any past version to roll back
How revert works
Reverting is non-destructive. When you revert to v3:
- The current live state is snapshotted as a new history row labelled Reverted to v3
- The live record is then overwritten with v3's field values
- You now have v1, v2, v3, ..., vN, plus a "Reverted to v3" entry showing exactly what was rolled back
So if the revert was a mistake, you can revert again to the "Reverted to v3" snapshot and you're back. No edit, no version, ever gets deleted.
Hard rules
Signed quotes cannot be edited
Once a customer signs a quote, the signed PDF acts as the record of what was agreed. The Edit and Revert buttons are disabled, and the version history remains visible (you can see how the quote evolved before signing) but no further changes can be made. This workflow is designed to support standard UK trade quote acceptance under the Electronic Communications Act 2000. It is not intended for deeds, wills, land transfers or other documents requiring witnessed or notarised execution — for those, take legal advice.
Soft-deleted quotes cannot be edited
If a quote is in the trash, edits are blocked. Restore it first, then edit.
Append-only
Every revert creates a NEW history row. v1, v2, ..., vN never get rewritten or deleted by a revert. The audit trail is complete and tamper-evident.
Use cases
Customer wants a price tweak
Original quote was £9,200. They asked for £8,500. You update and send. Now they're back asking what was on the original — Version History shows v1 has £9,200, v2 has £8,500. No need to dig through emails.
Accidentally deleted a line item
You meant to delete one paragraph, you deleted two. Open Version History, click the prior version, click Revert. The deleted paragraph is back. The accidental delete is also kept as a version, in case you change your mind later.
A/B testing two scope versions
Send v1 to one customer and v2 to another customer (using the Repeat button to copy and edit). The version history shows the differences between the two — useful for understanding what wording converts better.
